As a former school board member and a father of 3 who attend public schools, nothing is more important to me than taking care of our school system.
November 3, 2017 by John Simpson

As a former school board member and a father of 3 who attend public schools, nothing is more important to me than taking care of our school system.

  1. Support Governor Kemp in removing Common Core and high stakes testing.
  2. Support teachers and allow them to innovate in their classrooms.Teachers are the ones that know their students the best and they should be given the ability to adjust teaching methods as they deem necessary.
  3. Make sure our students are prepared for the jobs of the future. Not every student needs to be prepared to go to college. Many students could graduate from high school prepared to learn a trade at a technical college. Many of these trade jobs go unfilled because there is simply no one to fill them.
  4. Enact the second phase of Governor Kemp’s teacher pay raise.Make sure that resources are not taken away from our school systems which are already struggling as the House and Senate debate budget cuts due to the Covid-19 economic downturn.
